Q: Why Can't I Post?

A: Two things must occur in order for you to be able to post.

1. When you first signed up, you were sent an e-mail message to your registered address with a link needed to verify that your e-mail address is valid. You must go to this link in order to validate your account for posting. We require a valid e-mail address in order to post to prevent spamming and increase accountability. We do not sell e-mail addresses and e-mails from our site are only sent if you 'opt-in' in your profile, so you will never receive e-mails from us unless you specify and there is no reason not to provide this information. In addition your e-mail address is never displayed on our site publicly unless you specifically choose to do this so it can not be 'harvested' by spammers.
2. In order to post, you must read and agree to our forums rules and terms of service. The link provided in your signup e-mail to validate your account will also take you to our rules and terms of service page.

Q: What is Karma?

A: Karma is a point system designed to help encourage people to post helpful information in an informative and pleasant manner. Any validated member with Karma points to give can give Karma through the Karma Button () displayed at the bottom of each message when reading messages. Each member receives 5 karma points to give to others per day that will accrue each day to a maximum of 25 saved points. You may gave other members either 1 or 5 postive karma points for their posts if you like the message they posted or find it helpful. If a member posts a negative message, you may give them 1 negative karma point. Any karma points you give are deducted from your saved points. A members karma is displayed in each message under their name and title.

In addition to rewarding members for good posts, karma also helps new users evaluate the information they are reading. For instance if a person reads a comment from a member with a lot of negative karma from uninformed or negative messages, that person will know not to blanketly trust the information given by the member with negative karma. Conversely, when a person reads a message from a member with a lot of karma, they will have a good idea that they can probably trust what they are reading.

Q: How do I get a title under my name?

A: Titles are given to long term members with positive karma who regularly post informative or helpful messages in the forums. Whenever we believe a forum member to be worthy of their own title, we will contact them by e-mail regarding their new title. Please do not contact us requesting a title.
