7+ years propecia users inside..

I've been on propecia 7 + years minox5 % 12+ years , nizoral, nano. It has maintained my hair for that long.About 10 months ago I notice it was continously falling at double the rate and it started to look worse. I took 5mg every sunday to increase the dose after about 2 months it was the best my hairlooked. 6 months later its back to double the fall out and looks like my left temple is receding. Is it possible proscar 1.25 per day is loosing it effect over time? Could I stay on proscar and throw in advort a couple days a week?

thx mike

Dude this is the exact same thing that happened to me. I've been on the drugs slightly longer then you. I posted almost the same post as you about a month ago.

About five months ago, I started trying all the natural treatments. They have slowed down my loss, but it's still a lot worse then it used to be.

I got some avodart and am considering using it. I posted some pics here and most agreed using dut was my only chance if the naturals didn't help.

Besides all the naturals I also use a laser comb which seems to have helped.

If you get avodart, I would take it three times a week. And my plan would be to at first take Propecia on the off days, and eventually discontinue propecia.

Let me know what you decide to do.

Hey, this is exactly the kind of info I was looking for:

I've been taking Propecia for two years and I definitely have more hair than when I started.

However, for the past eight months or so I've noticed that my "synchronized" hair growth cycles have become extremely short. I'll have really thick hair for about a week, sometimes two weeks, then it all falls out over the course of another week, then fills back in a week later. It's getting hella frustrating going through such rapid ups and downs. I can't tell what the hell is going on, whether the cycles are going to eventually lengthen or if I'm always going to be yo-yo'ing through good and bad hair weeks. It sucks.

I guess my question is: has this happened to anyone else and does it get better? I'm optimistic because when my hair is at the good point in the cycle, you can't even tell I'm thinning. But at the bad point, it's obvious.

Thanks for any replies...

Adam

Man this sucks, what to do.You will eventually stop proscar and switch? Worst fear I guess would be a huge shed on advort then doesn't work as well as proscar, wishing we had that saved amount that proscar gave us.

I haven't decided what to do yet. I ordered the dut, but am reluctant to start treatment. I'm going to get some Spiro and Xandrox from Dr. Lee first, and then make my decision on the dut.

Mike said: Well...it's really hard to tell if there was an improvement just because I have enough hair not to notice if a few extra hundred or so hairs have grown in.....

But I feel more confident using Avodart just because it blocks more dht than Prscar or propecia and it also blocks both types as well......

Mabe I should take 5mg per day first see how that goes?

Wheelin, Be careful with 5mg per day. I know Mike hasn't had any problems with it. However, I've devoured the forums over at hairlosstalk and there seems to be a number of people who had worse results with 5mg per day. And then they had better results taking it three times per week or every other day.

Also, do you have diffuse loss?

Yes full head of hair ,diffuse loss for 13 years but just recently left temple lost a little realstate.Question about hairlosstalk I have not been on there in about 3 years forgot my login name and password.I tried to re-register and says e-mail already registered. So I can't get a new password or id? Tried to register with hotmail account says must be your providers address.I have been emailing the administrator over there the last 3 weeks( 5 times) but no body reply's back to reset my account. Very frustrating especialy when there's a big fallout lately.

Webmaster said, "Keep in mind that while on treatment your hair growth becomes synchronized, so when the hair cycles through the resting phase and falls out prior to regrowth, a LOT of hairs are going to go at once when you're on a treatment and it will look like it's getting worse, but really it's only a pause before regrowth. Within 2-3 months you should see a visual improvement".

Is this a regular occurance of hair loss every several months? Does terminal hair grow where hair loss has occured? I have had many men and women tell me about the massive hair loss which takes place after a long peroid of time on those remedies. Some have even said it stopped working after 6 months or more. Is it really worth the risk of loosing most of your hair just in case it "might" grow back? How many have experienced massive loss then satisfactory regrowth.
