I guess its simple enough question right? I am suffering from temple loss and now minor thinning of the hairline, i first noticed loss in 2002-ish. Its bad enough that i now have to sport a grade 2 all over, but at the same time i certainly woulnt call my loss severe, and maybe isnt that noticible to those who are looking too hard, however it stresses the %&$! out of me! Hence why i am very seriously considering a HT as my regimines have not worked and possibly made matters worse. btw i will post pics as soon as i can for your thoughts, but in the meantime what are the implications of a HT (fue in my case) when loss isnt that bad or if hair loss is (possibly) still at an early stage? Or should you wait till u have a definate pattern? Thing is im in my early mid 30's and single! i need my hairline now! lol
Incidently my (possibly incorrect) thinking is that if i get a small FUE HT done now (i think 1000 grafts would be enough for me), that would last a few years and fingers crossed hopefully by then we have much better solutions to the problem - HM for example. Thanks

I think a NW 2 is totally ok and good for a man over 30 just as long as it stops there. I would wait a little while longer personally. I am in about the same boat, but my temples have been stable for a couple of years now and I can live with the mature hairline. A 1/4" more or so and I would consider a HT. There is the nasty scarring on the back of the neck. It is not that bad but it does weigh-in on my equation.
I don't see anything on the horizon, maybe 10 years from now there will be some effective therapy for regrowth. There is not even a consistent therapy for halting hair loss right now.

I had an HT a few hears back...it does leave a scar on the back of your head so you can never shave down below a 3 with a razor. Still, to me it was totally worth the $5000, I had 1200 hairs grafted. People are always amazed when I tell them that i had one done.
One thing my doctor told me is that he doesn't like to do HTs on people under age 40. The reason being is that hairloss is progressive and there's no telling which area you're going to continue thinning out in. His plan for me (I was 32 at the time) was to do a small graft (1200 hairs) and put me on propecia until I hit 40, then I would come back for another 1200 to 1500 grafts to finish the job correctly. I'm only 36 right now, and he was right. I didn't continue propecia and my hairloss has slowly continued..... without Topik I would look pretty thin up top right now.

I'm hoping my current regimen will turn back the clock, but if it doesn't I'll probably do another HT 5 years down the road.

Mj... I have been using nanogen. Is toppik visible outside when the sun shines down on your head?? When I am at a club or in the sun light that is what scares me the most. I have been testing it under different lighting and I also use it when I workout. I am 24 years old and am in between a norwood 5-6 and have been on propecia for about 2-3 years. A few years ago I had a 3500 graft transplant to restore my hair line. Yes, the hair loss was that bad. I basically looked 40 years old. I was in college at the time and it really sucked. I am considering another transplant now to cover the rest of my head. However, this time I am a little hesitant. I dont want to live the rest of my 20's with the balding look. My crown needs work and also in between the crown and hair line. I had zone 1 and 2 restored previously. I have checked with a few docs and they suggested 3,000 grafts for the next procedure. I will be going to meet them in person starting next week to get an exact estimate of grafts left. I am going to be consulting with as many docs as possible. Once your supply is gone your screwed. Its a very s**ty situation to be in. Just pray every night that HM comes out by the time im in my 30s
