Hair Loss Shampoo Reviews

The following shampoos that may help you build more body to make your hair look thicker and better. Unless specified, None of them are intended for growing hair. Most of these shampoos do not contain the harsh cleanser Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate. The ones that do generally have something else that helps in hair loss.

The opinions below are my own opinions.

RegenePure DR and RegenePure NT

This shampoo is, in a word... fantastic! It is the best shampoo I have ever used for both thickening and hair conditioning. It even tops my previous favorite shampoo for thickening, Big Sexy Hair. When using this shampoo I notice my hair feels thicker as I'm rinsing the shampoo out of my hair. After 2 or 3 daily uses the effect is even more pronounced.

It seems to provide great conditioning as well as my hair seems easier to style and I have more 'good hair days' than on the other shampoos I've used. All that is pretty good just on its own, but these shampoos contain several ingredients likely to help stimulate hair growth including Ketoconazole and Caffeine among others.

I can't really tell how much it may benefit my hair growth since I'm using more than one product, but with the condition it leaves my scalp in it's hard to believe it can do anything but help, especially since using ketoconazole based shampoos have been shown to stimulate hair growth.

The only cons I can give for this shampoo is that it is a little pricey (but in my opinion worth it) and it does not lather extremely well, but that's because it doesn't contain sulfates which may harm hair growth.

Aqua Glycolic ShampooNioxin Shampoo - The interview for this shampoo is a bit overdue.  This is a great shampoo.  If it weren't for the cost, which is pretty high, I'd recommend it to everybody!  The shampoo leaves your hair in great condition and thickens it up quite a bit.  I would compare it favorably with Nano.  The only reason I still recommend Nano over this shampoo is Nano's ability to grow hair in some individuals.  This shampoo gets pretty good penetration and leaves your scalp with a tingly almost burning sensation (probably due to the Niacin & Mint).   These two increase blood circulation in the scalp for a while and may provide better absorption of Minoxidil.  Overall a great shampoo -- too bad it's so expensive.  You can find it in almost any salon.

Aqua Glycolic Shampoo Aqua Glycolic Shampoo - Aqua Glycolic is an alpha hydroxy shampoo that is very good at cleansing and removing oil. You may have to order it from your local pharmacy.

Biotin Shampoo Biotin (Natural Solutions) Shampoo - This shampoo is supposed to provide Biotin to help keep your hair healthy. Biotin is necessary for proper, healthy hair growth. This shampoo is sold at General Nutrtion Centers (GNC).

Nano Shampoo Nano Shampoo - Nano is a good shampoo for thickening hair and may help to regrow hair. It is sold by the same doctor who makes Proxiphen for hair loss. You can find out more by emailing him at drproctor@drproctor.com.

Progaine Shampoo Progaine Shampoo & Conditioner - This shampoo is made by Upjohn, the makers of Rogaine. Unlike Rogaine, it does not claim to grow hair. However, it is a gentle shampoo and is pretty good.

Silica Shampoo Silica (Natural Solutions) Shampoo - Silica shampoo is another shampoo sold at GNC. Silica strengthens and thickens hair and this shampoo is good at thickening up the hair you have.

Silica Shampoo Dercap/Aminexil Shampoo - Dercap is a pretty good shampoo.  I wouldn't put it up in the top of all shampoos, but then again, it has aminexil in it, so it could help regrow hair for some people.   That may make it worth it.  It is not too expensive, either (around $11/bottle).  Overall a decent shampoo with the possibility of stimulating hair growth.

Thicker, Fuller Hair Shampoo - If you're looking for a cheap shampoo to thicken your hair a little, Thicker, Fuller Hair may be your shampoo. It's not the greatest thickener ever or the greatest shampoo, but it's around the cost of other shampoos, so hey, what's the harm in trying it? Cost - $3-4 for a 12oz bottle.

COUVRé Thickening Shampoo - I didn't expect much from this shampoo. I've tried 'thickening' shampoos before that thickened a little but didn't really deliver the goods. This shampoo does. I would compare it's thickening abilities and hair quality favorably with Nano shampoo. This shampoo also costs about half of Nano's cost (which is still expensive for a shampoo!). So if you're looking for a really good shampoo to thicken your hair, but you don't care about the potential hair regrowth effects of Nano, this shampoo is probably for you. I still prefer Nano, but this is a really good shampoo I don't mind using when I don't have Nano handy. Cost - $9.99 for a 4 oz bottle.

Nisim Shampoo Nisim Shampoo - Nisim offers an entire product line for removing DHT from the scalp and slowing hair loss.  I was able to test their shampoo and conditioner.  Nisim is a good shampoo, although it didn't make my top 5, and they claim it removes DHT from the scalp.  I don't know if these claims are true, but if they were that would be reason enough to use it.  It's worth looking into though, especially if you're using their treatment product which they claim grows hair.   Nisim is available in Salons.
