The Hair Transplant Process in Video

Regrowth was recently able to be present at the WAHRS Live Surgery Workshop, where we were able to take video of transplants taking place.  We were able to film several patients having transplants done by various doctors.  Below we will walk you through the most important steps in the transplant process.  All the videos below are in MPEG format.  We recommend you try downloading and playing one before downloading any others to be sure it works.  WARNING:  The following videos contain graphic material - video clips of medical procedures being performed involving injections, bleeding, and cutting of skin.

First off, the patient is injected with local anesthetics to prevent any pain during removal of the donor area and creation of the recipient sites.

Second, a strip of donor hair is removed from the back of the head.

Third, the donor strip is cut by technicians into the grafts which will be transplanted.

Next, the recipient sites where the hairs will be placed are created, using a variety of methods.

Last, the individual grafts are taken and placed in the recipient slots.

There are a few other minor things not included here, such as bandaging, but these are the major steps in the transplant process.
