That happened to me and I hasn't regrown yet. Did you experience any hyper-andro side effects at this time (acne on shoulder/back, oily face/scalp)?
Do the remaining hairs seem thinner?

Three years ago I thought I had found the answer to my prayers in Propecia. I started taking it in the earliest stages of my hair loss and it stopped me from losing hair and helped fill in my crown. Suddenly, this year I began to lose hair like crazy and have so far lost about one inch of my frontal hairline. It was as if I had stopped taking it, but I didn't. Has this happened to anyone else? Merck says 90% of Propecia users who have taken it as long as I have retained their hair count, but I'm suspicious - either that or very unlucky.

I'm new to this site and just entered this forum but this is whats happening to me. I had amazing results with propecia and then after 2yrs it stopped and I started losing my hair-fast! I'm also experiencing what you call hyper-andro effects.I'm not sure what that means. Maybe you can explain.Does anyone have an opinion on why this is happening and what is hyper-andro effects

Reading through this post it makes finasteride look like a bad guy. Just to clarify things: Propecia/Proscar will not cause your hair to thin any more, there is no hypoandro effect (a myth). All of you who say it made you lose more hair it probably saved you from losing more. Propcia/Proscar blocks DHT from being formed, which may raise T levels a small bit but not a significant level. My prescription for all: Propecia (1 a day), Xandrox 12.5% (once a day), and Xandrox 5% with Retin-A (once-twice a day). Try it.

I started using minoxidil after thinking the propecia was thining out my hairline.

Member13094 said: Last question for those of you that have been lossing hair and think its due to propecia. Did you use minoxidil before using propecia and then stop when you started to use propecia? Member13094 said: Once again, Propecia/proscar cannot accelerate your hair loss. It is just silly to think that. It may have just not worked for you, as some people are non-responders. Also, Propecia is proven to slow down hairloss and not regrow hair, keep that in mind. I think you should move to a high form of minoxidil and stay on the proscar for about 4 months with the minoxidil. If still no luck then hold out for dutasteride, that should help many stop hair loss almost completely. There is much hope in the near future. :) Member12145 said: I didn't notice any slow down or stop in the lossing in hair after i taken proscar. But it really accelarate my hairloss.......Well i can say i am quite regret to take it.But it is the only hope of me ...i have no chioce...and I also don't know that whether it will grow back or not...!

There have been periods of time where I don't notice too much hair loss and just forget about my receeding hairline.  However, by the end of the month when I do an assessment of my hair line, it's noticably thinner.  In the way of regrowth...don't beleive so as the vellus hairs that are comming out have replaced the terminal ones.  The termial hairs behind the vellus are getting thinner.

Member13094 said: was your experience with propecia ever good? Did you ever experience some regrowth, or stopping of hair loss in the entire time you've been using it? I would really like to know, your situation puzzles me. We'll get down to the bottom of it though. :)
Member13090 said: No, I actually started using some minox 2% about 1.5 months ago to see if that would help...still a little early to tell but don't think it's helping.  Topicals was something I really never wanted to use but now forced to try it.  I also have DR. Lee's formulation (5% + retin a) sitting on my desk on standby.  Didn't notice an impovement in month 2...it's been progressively worse from one month to the next.

Member13094 said: Do you just use propecia? or do you combine with something topical like minoxidil? You should try using minoxidil (5% or if that doesn't work use 12.5%). That should do the trick.
Also, one more question about you. In the begining like after month 2 did you ever notice your hair getting better? Member13090 said: I am 27 and first noticed the fallout around month 4.  Thinking that this may be a shedding phase, I continued with Propecia while still thining out at the front.  As of today I have not stopped Finasteride which will be month 6 and losing hope that the front will get better soon.

I'm at a crossroad now not knowing whether to continue or cease taking proscar.  Thanks for taking the time to post and I appreciate your anticipated comments.
